What is Beijing Owl?
Beijing Owl is a conservation biology project founded by high school students in Beijing. We bring wildlife and plant observation together with social research and cultural exploration. Through field activities, members learn ecological survey methods and consider contemporary environmental questions from scientific, sociological, and anthropological perspectives. We learn through direct experience and build a closer relationship with the natural world. Our aim is to connect theory with practice and help young people become observers, researchers, and protectors of nature.

How we work
Observe species and learn field methods; bring questions into our reading.
Slow down and notice animals as living beings, not simply as photographs.
Take responsibility for animal welfare and practical conservation questions.
Let people from different schools and interests build on one another's discoveries.
Writing & expression
After fieldwork, the questions continue. These pieces show how we think about nature, our companions, and society.
